5 Reasons Your Family Will Love Visiting the San Diego Zoo
One of the many benefits of staying at our hotel in Carlsbad is being close to many great area attractions. While there are many fun things to do right here in Carlsbad, we are also located just 30 minutes from some amazing activities in San Diego, including one of the country’s most popular animal attractions. Here are 5 reasons why your family will love visiting the San Diego Zoo:
1. Guided Bus Tour
This fun attraction takes you on a round-trip 35-minute adventure through the zoo on a unique double-decker bus. The guide of the tour will stop at various exhibits and give you never heard before information about some of the amazing creatures that live at the San Diego Zoo! They also will provide information about what the zoo does in an effort to save different wildlife species. While it is fun to just walk around and look at the animals, the guided bus tour will give you more facts about the animals and their natural habitats.
2. Skyfari Aerial Tram
There is no better view of the zoo than the one you will get from the Skyfari Aerial Tram. This unique ride will fly you high above the trees of the attraction. From up there, you will have a birds eye view of all the amazing animals, not to mention great views of the city! If you have children who are under the age of eight, they can ride as well, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Take a trip high above the zoo with this once in a lifetime thrill ride!
3. 4D Theater
Your whole family will love the experience of riding on the 4D theater attraction at the San Diego Zoo. On your way in, grab a pair of 3D glasses and take a seat in one of the comfortable cinema seats. From there, you will take a journey to the wonderful world of the famous movie Jungle Book. You can help Baloo and his animal pals tackle the threats that come with living in the jungle!
4. Balboa Park Miniature Train
If you are traveling to the zoo with children, they will love the experience of taking a ride on the Balboa Park Miniature Train. This is a four minute ride that takes kids on a half-mile loop through Balboa Park. Along the way, they will see different types of trees and unique nature formations. Tickets to ride the train cost $3 and can be purchased near the exit of the zoo.
5. Botanical Tours
These self guided tours take you through some of the most spectacular garden and plant collections that San Diego has to offer. Some of the amazing collections of plants you will see include bamboos, orchids, palms, and so much more! You can use the complimentary park map to see what parts of the park contain the most amazing flowers!
